Metarhizium anisopliae based Bio-pesticide

Metarhizium anisopliae is an entomopathogenic fungus that infects insects that come in contact with it. It is beneficial fungus having the ability to kill a broad spectrum of insecticides including sucking insects, beetles, and caterpillars. Once the fungus spores attach to the surface of the insect, germinate and begin to grow, they then penetrate the exoskeleton of the insect and grow very rapidly inside the insect causing the insect to die. Other insects that come in contact with infected insects also become infected with the fungus. Spores of Metarhizium attached to insect cuticle and kills them by penetrating and consuming it. This spores are able to survive in soil, organic matter and debris of dead infected insects and can infect another insect by secondary infection.
